Description
White Kwao Krua, also known in Latin as Pueraria mirifica, is a tuber plant that has a history in Thai medicine. Traditionally, the plant has been used to enhance strength and wellness, and rejuvenate the older adult. The plant is grown at high altitudes of up to 800m above sea level, producing purple flowers and large ovoid leaves. The herbal properties of the plant mainly come from the tuberous root which is extracted, dried and powdered for nutritional use. The roots in question grow into large networks which can weigh up to 100kg.
Benefits
The root has been used to complement the treatment of many hormonal fluctuations due to its phytoestrogens content. Other benefits of the White Kwao Krua are thought to include a reduction in the symptoms of menopause, including hot flushes and profuse sweating.
