Description
There are several milestones which occur during the ages of 5 to 10 years, including physical and social developments such as the enhancement of motor skills, increasing levels of sensitivity and the gradual development of speech, language and communication skills. From around the age of 5 years old, a childs ability to hop, skip and jump begins to develop, their baby fat reduces and they begin to look more lean, gaining muscle. Our Multivitamin tablets for Children aged 5-10 years contain 22 essential vitamins and minerals which have been specifically chosen and formulated together to benefit those aged 5-10 years. This includes Vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, C, D3, E and K2, as well as the following minerals; Biotin, Calcium, Chromium, Copper, Folic Acid, Iodine, Iron, Magnesium, Manganese, Selenium and Zinc.
Benefits
Vitamin A
A deficiency in Vitamin A is the main reason why more than 50% of countries around the world commonly see childhood blindness, otherwise known as night blindness. In addition to the maintenance of normal vision, Vitamin A contributes to normal Iron metabolism, the maintenance of mucous membranes and skin, and is required for the process of cell specialisation and optimal functioning of the immune system. Three of our Multivitamin tablets provide 90% of the NRV for children.
The B vitamins
Vitamin B1
As with the other B vitamins, Vitamin B2 (Thiamin) helps with energy production. The vitamin also plays a role in the functioning of the nervous system, psychological system and the functioning of the heart.
Vitamin B2
Riboflavin is known to aid optimal functioning of the nervous system, maintaining mucous membranes, vision and skin and contributing to energy metabolism. The vitamin also reduces feelings of tiredness and fatigue by promoting iron metabolism and acting as an antioxidant.
Vitamin B3
Vitamin B3 (Niacin) is vital in the performance of the nervous system and the maintenance of mucous membranes and skin. It also plays a role in energy metabolism, reducing feelings of tiredness as a result.
Vitamin B5
Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid) is required for the synthesis of steroid hormones, Vitamin D and certain neurotransmitters. The vitamin also reduces fatigue by contributing to energy production which improves mental performance.
Vitamin B6
Vitamin B6, also known as Pyridoxine, aids the nervous system, contributes to normal cysteine and homocysteine synthesis and plays a role in energy metabolism. In addition, Vitamin B6 aids protein and glycogen metabolism, psychological function and hormone regulation. Like many other B vitamins, the vitamin helps to reduce tiredness by enhancing the formation of red blood cells which contributes to the immune system function.
Vitamin B12
This vitamin is known for its role within energy metabolism, although it is also essential for the functioning of the nervous system, homocysteine metabolism, psychological function and the cell division process. Vitamin B12 also reduces tiredness and fatigue by contributing to red blood cell formation, aiding the immune system health. One serving size of these tablets meets the NRV of children aged 5-10 years. Three of our Multivitamin tablets exceeds 100% of the NRV for Vitamin B12, providing 81mcg per serving size.
Vitamin C
Children require Vitamin C as the vitamin is an antioxidant, protecting cells from oxidative damage. The vitamin is also essential for the formation of cartilage, bones, collagen, gums, teeth and skin, all of which are important whilst the child continues to grow and develop. The vitamin increases Iron absorption which is needed for oxygen transportation.
Vitamin D3
Vitamin D increases the absorption and utilisation of Calcium as the trace mineral can only be absorbed in the presence of the vitamin, hence the vitamin contributes to normal blood Calcium levels. Vitamin D also helps to maintain normal bones, teeth and muscle function, as well as optimal health of the immune system and normal cell division.
Vitamin E
Vitamin E is one of the main antioxidants, protecting DNA, proteins and lipids from oxidative stress. Each tablet offers 2.2mg of Vitamin E, contributing to 73% of the NRV for Vitamin E when 3 tablets are taken (one serving size).
Vitamin K2
Vitamin K plays a role in blood coagulation, contributing to normal blood clotting, and contributing to the maintenance of bone health. The Vitamin K NRV for children is 20mcg, a value that is met with one full serving size of these Multivitamin tablets for Children aged 5 to 10 years.
Biotin
Biotin is considered a B vitamin that is essential for the health of the nervous system, psychological function and the maintenance of skin, hair and mucous membranes. Biotin also plays a role in macronutrient (carbohydrates, fat and protein) metabolism, in addition to energy metabolism.
Calcium
Calcium is an essential mineral that plays a role in normal blood clotting, muscle function, neurotransmission and energy production. The mineral is known for its enzymatic properties, contributing to the normal function of digestive enzymes, as well as playing a role in cell specialisation. Calcium is also widely known for its role within bone health, maintaining bones and teeth which is important during childhood growth and development.
Chromium
Chromium is a trace mineral, essential for the body but only required in tiny amounts. Our Multivitamin tablets for Children aged 5-10 Years contains Chromium Picolinate, a form of Chromium that aids the maintenance of normal blood glucose levels.
Copper
Copper helps to maintain the connective tissues, normal hair and skin pigmentation and the normal function of the nervous system. The mineral also acts as an antioxidant, enhancing the health of the immune function. In addition, Copper helps to transport iron around the body to reduce tiredness.
Folic Acid
Folic acid is the supplemental form of Vitamin B9, which is also naturally known as Folate. Children aged 5 to 10 require 110mcg a day to contribute to a childs optimal health. Our Multivitamin tablets provide 33mcg in each tablet, contributing to 90% of the NRV for Folic acid.
Iodine
Young children require Iodine to contribute to normal growth, cognitive function and the production and maintenance of thyroid hormones to aid normal thyroid function. Iodine also benefits energy metabolism which is important as children aged 5-10 years become more active than a younger age.
Iron
Iron is an element of haemoglobin, a molecule that transports oxygen around the body, which reduces feelings of fatigue. The trace mineral is also required for cell division and cognitive development in children. Young children need 5mg of Iron each day, a requirement that is nearly met with our Multivitamin tablets for 5 to 10 year olds which contribute to 98% of the NRV per serving size of three tablets.
Magnesium
Magnesium aids protein synthesis and cell division which are important for children as they tend to grow around 2.5 inches each year during this life stage. The mineral also enhances optimal electrolyte balance, keeping our muscles functioning correctly, including cardiovascular health.
Manganese
This natural antioxidant protects cells from oxidative stress and contributes to the healthy formation of connective tissue. Manganese also helps with bone health maintenance to prevent bone fractures. Children only need 1mg of Manganese each day which can be obtained from a range of natural food sources, including tea, bread, nuts and green leafy vegetables.
Selenium
Selenium benefits children during times of growth, enabling the maintenance of normal hair and nails, as well as thyroid function to regulate the normal metabolism of certain hormones. Additionally, Selenium assists the immune function to keep children healthy and void from the common flu.
Zinc
Zinc is a very important nutrient, contributing to the acid-base metabolism (the balance in the body between acidity and alkalinity) in addition to the metabolism of macronutrients and Vitamin A. Zinc also contributes to the maintenance of normal vision, the process of cell division during growth, DNA synthesis and cognitive function to aid learning.
