Maca
The Maca that we use is extracted from the Lepidium meyenii plant which originates in the Andes mountains of South America. Maca has been extracted from the root of the plant for many years, originally consumed by the native Inca warriors who believed that the root provided strength and endurance during battles. The plant is packed full of nutrition as it is rich in protein, fats, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium and Selenium. Maca contributes to stamina and athletic performance, as well as energy levels. The root extract is also particularly beneficial to men as it is a natural libido booster, contributing to the balance of reproductive hormones.

Biotin
Biotin is a water-soluble vitamin, also known as Vitamin B7. The vitamin was discovered in 1942 by Vincent du Vigneaud and is naturally produced by some bacteria in the gut. Biotin is well known to contribute to the maintenance of normal hair, skin and mucous membranes which promote the health of the immune system. The vitamin also supports energy and macronutrient (carbohydrates, fat and protein) metabolism, in addition to the normal function of the nervous system and cognitive function.

Omega 3
Omega 3 is a fatty acid that is commonly found in fish and certain plant-based sources. White fish and shellfish contain less Omega 3 than oily fish, and plant-based sources include vegetable oils, nuts and seeds. There are three main forms of Omega 3. Our Omega 3 soft gels contain two of these forms; eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Omega 3 benefits cholesterol levels, reducing the amount of cholesterol in the blood. This reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease by inhibiting the amount of 'bad' triglycerides that can be absorbed.

Calcium and Vitamin D3
Calcium and Vitamin D3 are frequently combined in a supplement as both nutrients complement each other to increase the efficiency of one another. The mineral and the vitamin work in harmony to aid the maintenance of normal bones and teeth, reducing the loss of bone mineral as you age. Reduced bone mineral can cause weak bones which increases the risk of bone fractures. The two nutrients also promote healthy growth and development, including new cells, and aid cognitive functions.

Joint Support
Our Joint Support tablets are comprised of four nutritional ingredients, including Vitamin C, MSM, Chondroitin and Glucosamine. Vitamin C is an antioxidant which protects cells from damage caused by free radicals. The vitamin also promotes the formation of collagen which forms the structure of bones. MSM is abbreviated for Methyl-sulphonyl-methane, a chemical found in green plants, animals and humans. MSM is a natural source of sulphur which supports the production of glycosaminoglycan, a highly viscous substance that is a component in the lubricating fluid surrounding joints. Chondroitin is a sugar that is produced from cartilage and, just as with MSM, supports the production of glycosaminoglycan. Glucosamine is a natural chemical that is produced by the body. Our Joint Support tablets contain a natural form of Chondroitin that is produced in the exoskeleton of fish. Glucosamine is involved in the production of cartilage and the fluid surrounding the joints, strengthening the bones and softening the impact on the joints.
